Retro Watercooler Mashup!

Hey friends!

Today I decided to mashup a few challenges and see what would happen. I chose the Retro Rubber and Watercooler Wednesday challenges!

So, here's what I came up with...

This card is a little out of character for me, but wanted to try a technique and gosh darn it- it was going to work.

Or turn into a finished project that maybe someone else would love.

I kid. It really looks pretty in person.

The technique was to sponge the embossing folder than press it onto the card. While the embossing folder looked awesome, not too much transferred onto the paper. I tried to recreate what the folder looks like and came up with this. It's not my particular style, I know someone (maybe you!) love it! The sentiment is from Occasional Quotes (2011?)

It was fun to just play without guidelines.

Sometimes our brains just need to sponge outside of the lines to be happy.

Thanks for stopping by! Have a stamptastic day!

Getting crazy for TSOT 271!

Morning friends!

In non-stamping news, my derby team (minus a few) had team pictures! Don't we look good! My friend Ella takes ah-mazing photos and is a group-photo genius! (I'm on the far upper right)

This week for Try Stampin' on Tuesday we have a really fun layout!

Immediately, visions of In-colors and the Swirly Bird bundle came to my head. The Theme for the card is "It's a party" and oh man- we've got a party alright!

It's a bit crazy up in here, I know! As I was laying it out, I kept thinking "man, what an eyesore!" haha! But it's SO fun! I also had visions of big bangs, acid wash jeans, and all other tackiness that the late 80's-early 90's offered. :D

Thanks for stopping in today! Have a go at the Try Stampin' challenge this week!

Have a stamptastic day!!

Small Packages

Good morning friends!

Good things come in small packages.

And are also a pain in the ass. (Pardon my language!)

I decided to take on the Watercooler Wednesday box challenge they had going this week. Stumped for ideas, I went to Pinterest and found this cute idea! She had a variety of items, but thought " I could whip something up with my pillow box die" and be done rather quickly.

Nah.

Strangely enough, the pillow box was the most difficult part. Don't ask me why. Some days I have it, other days not so much.

The handle for the box was made from a small scrap of Pool Party which I folded in half and used a circle framelet die to round the edge. (Jayme, why would you put a handle on a tiny box? You got me--no idea! Cuteness. That matters!) I used the word window punch for the handle hole.

I then used the new Swirly Bird bundle for the swirl in Coastal Cabana an the little Real Red Flowers brushed with Wink of Stella. Fresh Prints DSP paper stack (ret) is what I used on the pillow box and card. The twines on the pillow box are from Target and the hardware store :)

Along with the box, I made a cute card inspired by Jennifer McGuire. Lately she's been doing a lot of partial die cuts on her cards and it never dawned on me that you could do such a thing! It came out pretty cute!! With some time, I could perfect this method. The Hello stamp from Sale-a-bration is stamped twice using my MISTI and then clear embossed for a nice sheen. I also used the botanical garden vellum stack from Sale-a-bration for the background of the card.

Thanks for stopping by and have a stamptastic day!!
